5. CHANGES TO MY STUDY PROGRAMME

Hello, this time I am going to write about my study program at the university.

I entered the university in 2020. I studied my entire first year online. In 2021 I decided to postpone my studies and now, this year 2022, I am back. I am studying sociology at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Chile. This faculty is located on the Juan Gomez Milla campus located in the Ñuñoa district.

This career it has a duration of 10 semesters. Among the subjects that my university programme offered, you can find history, economics, statistics,  theory of sociology, research strategies. Many subjects that combine mathematical and humanistic content and that are focused mainly on the social and its application in the structure of society. In my opinion the study program is very interesting.According to the official website of the University of Chile, the sociology study program provides extensive theoretical and methodological training that allows the analysis and investigation of social phenomena and enables efficient performance in the design and implementation of social programs and policies.

Some ones of the career objectives are to train professionals capable of critically investigating, analyzing and intervening in processes of social transformation considering cultural, historical, political and economic dimensions. What I like most about the study program is that it works with other disciplines of the Social Sciences and allows you to be creative in finding and implementing solutions to social problems.

There are things that i would change to the study program. Some changes that I would make  are the participation that students have in the decisions of which elements are part of it. What I want to say is that I believe that students should have decision-making space when preparing the curriculum, so that we ourselves with the teachers can  discuss what things we want to be part of the study program and how they should be implemented.

Juan Gomez Milla campus It has a sports center, some green areas and spaces that are renamed by their students with nicknames that are passed from generation to generation. About he technology and structure of the campus, I am a bit upset, the university has a lot of money but it is very poorly distributed throughout all the campuses that exist. In Juan Gomez milla for example, without being one of the most precarious, the casinos do not work well and the technological devices generally fail or are not exist efficient inductions for the teachers that allow them occupied this artifacts well . But all in all, I really like the university and its people, it's a great place.

Here are some pictures of my faculty and the campus:
